The Litvak gallery at Berkivitch 4 in Tel Aviv (Migdal Hamuseon) has yet another breathtaking Glass art exhibition. This time it is an exhibition of the creations of Dale Chihuly which is scheduled to run until the end of April 2011.
Dale Chihuly is known for his colorful, fluid glass forms and breathtaking large-scale glass creations.
Dale Chihuly’s works can be found in many museums throughout the world, as well as in important private collections.
Chihuly exhibited in Israel back in 2000 with ”Chihuly in the Light of Jerusalem 2000″ at David’s Tower in Jerusalem. The exhibition lasted a year and was probably the most spectacular ever seen in Israel.
This time, the exhibit at the Litvak in Tel Aviv is also one of the most extravagant and spectacular scenes to be displayed in Israel.
In great progression from the last time I wrote about the Litvak Gallery, the gallery now has an English web site: http://litvak.com. In the site you can see pictures of the works in the exhibit and a very interesting article about Dale Chihuly and his relationship with Israel.

There objects, whatever they are meant to be, are on display at Ramat Aviv mall were created by Israeli artist Liora Kanterewict who is know for modern somewhat fantasy pieces. Liora Kanterewict has a studio in Tel Aviv where she displays her work of paintings and sculptures. Liora Kanterewict sculptures of I likes were mainly of two different style. The first is of fantasy like creatures and the second is of big blob shapes of glitter specks. To see some of Liora Kanterewicts works you should at least have a virtual visit to her site: www.liorakstudio.com or better visit her studio on Rabeinu Hananel st. in Tel Aviv.

I just found this video about Israeli fashion and accessorily designers working and selling out of the Gan HaHashmal area of South Tel-Aviv, like FrauBlau that I have mentioned before.
This is a great area to visit if you are interested in new, up-and-coming designers, as this area has many interesting designer studio/shops. The shop is usually in front and the actual studio is in the back. I love these shops because since the studio is on site, the designer is usually there for you to meet.

The next Tel Aviv open house weekend is coming up and is planned for MAY 7-8, 2010.

During these events some of Tel Aviv’s most interesting and designed homes, buildings and offices are open to the public. Buildings with special architecture, designed and stylized spaces, interesting urban culture places that are usually closed to the public are open and historical buildings and museums can be visited for free.

Some of the places are open for visiting on your own while others are by pre-registered tours only. There are also building and city tours by some well know and knowledgeable architects, designers and historians.

I have been to two of these events in Tel Aviv that were great fun and very inspiring. This is when I was inspired to write the post about Bauhaus buildings in Tel Aviv.

The open house event lasts for two days and even if you attend both days you cannot possibly see all there is to see. It is a good idea to plan your time and route according to the list on the site. Be prepared to stand in line, although organization is good and the lines usually progress quickly. And wear your walking shoes, because Tel Aviv is a walking city.

The website, especially the English one, is still being built and information is being added all the time.
