I recently discovered the works of Israeli jewelry designer Osnat Weingarten. She has a few very interesting collections, which you can see on her site www.osnatweingarten.com and in jewelry shops.

As I am in a mood for fun and color at the moment, I love Osnat’s colorful Freedom collection.

Summer 2010 Fashion Trend: Washed Denim

Looks like washed denim is going to be big this summer of 2010! This summer trend seems to be showing up in so many places it is just unavoidable. If you are now already wearing washed denim, you will be wearing it this summer.
The washed denim looks I am seeing for summer 2010 is either in the natural light blue color that happens when denim is used and washed. This color is #2 for the most popular color for Summer 2010 in Fashion Trend Setters Pentone colors for summer 2010.

This washed demin trend for this summer also comes in colored washed denim. This is an affect that looks like washed out denim has been dyed another color. Popular colors for this trend seem to be purple and turquoise.

Washed denim is most naturally paired with a loose white shirt, and will defiantly be seen with floral patterns, both of which we will alse be seeing a lot of this summer. Stay tuned for more about those.
Another trend for this summer of 2010 that I see emerging but is not yet actually here is the cut and cut off jeans. Or the Ripped jeans look as it’s called by Fashionising.
This trend is not really here yet, but I am seeing it trickle in from outside influences. If you have lived as long as me these trends for summer 2010 are probably giving you déjà vu. I know I had these dyed washed demin jeans in junior high, and them later the cut off jeans. It took some people so much time to stop wearing the jeans with the exposed knee or butt that I fear what will happen this time. I so want to post a link that Nirvana or Guns N’ Roses are coming here this summer. That would all fall together so nicely with this trend, but alas I cannot find anything about it yet.
But alas Metallica are on their way to Israel, so we may be spotting some summertime leather jackets to go with this faded and ripped jeans trend.

Mimi’s Yemenite Necklace

Remember when I wrote about the piece about Yemenite Jewelry?
Well, I met Mimi the other day and she was wearing an amazing authentic Yemenite necklace.
The necklace belonged to Mimi’s grandmother, and was passed down to her from her mother after she asked and begged for it for months. Yes it is certainly worth begging for.
I took this picture with my phone so it is not great. Mimi did not want to be included in the picture, which is a shame because she is so pretty and sweet and adorable.
I hope you can make out the flower design on each of the pieces of the necklace.
This is certainly a magnificent necklace.

Yemenite jewelry is characteristic in that it is made of many little pieces of silver, gold or metal connected together or twisted silver wire Filigree. It is said that Jews arrived in Yemen on escorting the Queen of Sheba king David’s wife home to Africa, where they stayed for more than 2000 years. In Yeman many Jews worked as silversmiths and Jewelry makers. The craft was passed down from father to son and children started as apprentices twisting the silver into shape at a very early age.

“In Yemen , a person who wanted a piece of jewelry would give five silver coins to the silversmith. Three coins were melted for the jewel itself and the two other coins were the jeweler’s fee.” says Ben-Zion David in his site www.yemenite-art.com. Israel Jewelry: Designer Dalia Gefen

Jewelry designer Dalia Gefen, is an Israeli jewelry designer whose works are mainly of silver with a combination of other materials. She has jewelry pieces of silver with leather, silver and polymers and other stones.
Her work is in a number of different styles which she says are influenced from “the world of architectures organization and structure as well as flora and fauna”.

I especially like her stone shaped and textured jewelry.

I can see where the as flora and fauna influences come in.

These might be attributed to architecture.

And some cute lighting.
